Prep Cook Role:
A Prep Cook, or a Food Preparation Worker is a culinary professional responsible for preparing food to be cooked. Primary duties include preparing cooking ingredients, cleaning up the cooking area and ensuring proper storage of the ingredients.
Other Duties:
- Slicing vegetables, meat and other ingredients
- Ensuring the set nutritional and sanitary regulations are met
- Accurately labelling and storing food items in the pantry
- Maintaining ingredient stocks
- Providing assistance to the Head Chef
- Preparing salads, sauces, side dishes and entrees for different course menus
- Inspecting and setting out the plates
- Planning the daily kitchen duties in line with the Chef’s prep list
